Studio Gainax is one of the more legendary studios, particularly (in)famous for their use of hyperkinetic breasts, a general inability to end a series, and shows that fans read a lot into because they don't end so much as they just stop because the production team ran out of money. This reputation has been well-earned, though it has come to be challenged in recent years, as their last couple of big shows, Gurren Lagann and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt had very deliberate and planned endings. In turn, they've started including references to their earlier works, which are more abundant now.
